The Weeknd will release his new album, My Dear Melancholy, tonight, Rolling Stone has confirmed.
The Weeknd began teasing the record on Instagram Wednesday, posting a screenshot of a text conversation with message, “should we drop Friday? I’m indifferent to be honest.” On Thursday, the R&B star shared the ostensible album artwork for My Dear Melancholy with the caption, “tonight.”

As Forbesnotes, the Weeknd’s social media posts were backed up by a billboard that appeared in London with the message, “New Album from The Weeknd. Available Now.”

My Dear Melancholy follows the Weeknd’s 2016 record, Starboy. That LP debuted at Number One and charted two Top 10 hits, the title-track and “I Feel it Coming,” both of which featured Daft Punk. In January, Starboy won the Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album.
Since the release of Starboy, the Weeknd has collaborated with an array of artists including Lana Del Rey, Future, French Montana, Gucci Mane, Nav and Lil Uzi Vert. In February, the singer partnered with Kendrick Lamar for a new song, “Pray for Me,” off the Black Panther soundtrack.

The Weeknd will perform at a handful of major festivals this summer, with sets scheduled at Coachella, Panorama and Lollapalooza.

The vocalist also promoted the EP with eerie new videos for “Call Out My Name” and “Try Me,” both available exclusively on Spotify. In the former clip, the Weeknd’s face is broadcast on a wall of TVs, crooning the slow-jam as a woman writhes around and stares, hypnotized, at his face. In the latter, the R&B star drives through the night with a car full of yellow-eyed women.
The Weeknd just dropped a full new project! His last album STARBOY came in the fall of 2016 and he’s surprised us all with a full new project titled My Dear Melancholy returning to his roots. The production credits are insane… Skrillex, Guy Manuel De Homem Christo (of Daft Punk), Mike Will Made-It, Gessafelstein, Nicolas Jaar, Frank Dukes and more.
Since his Trilogy series in 2011, Abel has explored different sounds and gives his day one fans something special with this one. We weren't fully sure what to expect when we saw there was a new project… but The Weeknd and Gesaffelstein was certainly something we did not see coming.
